Full Review of the Kreitler Challenger 30 Rollers

The Kreitler Challenger 3.0 Rollers are perfect if you are after one of the top brands of bike rollers available on the market and are looking for a good all round set of rollers.

The Challenger 3.0 Rollers have plastic end caps as compared to the metal ends on the Alloy 3.0 Rollers. This allows for the cost of the challenger 3.0 rollers to be lower than the Alloys without compromising hugely on ride quality.

Kreitler Challenger 3.0 set up

Set up is quick and easy and Kreitler provide some good videos on setting up your Kreitler Challenger 3.0 Rollers on their website. The build is very solid and you can tell that these bicycle rollers will last you for years. We got our set up and running in under 10 minutes which is good by any means and shows the quality of the product and the simplicity of the design.

The ride feel is very road like and incorporates all of the balancing and core stability required with any set of bicycle rollers. The resistance compared to the 4.5 Rollers is about 40% higher and using the gears on your bike you can get a pretty decent resistance range for your workout. You will however be concentrating more on a high cadence rather than extreme power workout. If thats what youre looking for you should consider checking out the turbo trainers available on the market.

The resistance is generated by a band that spans between the rollers. This band runs very smooth and is not at all jerky. The rollers on the Kreitler Challenger 3.0 Rollers are static, which means they will not absorb any energy that comes with riding out of the saddle. Energetic surges while standing up out of the saddle can result in a slightly jerky ride. However when riding in the saddle the experience is excellent.

As far as space is concerned these bicycle rollers pack away to a very decent size which is fantastic if you are short on space and need to make way after your training sessions.

Noise on the Kreitler Challenger 3.0 Rollers

Being rollers they are practically silent if you compare them to training on a turbo trainer so if you are very intent on watching TV or training where noise is an issue these rollers could be a very good option. The noise level does obviously rise slightly at very high cadence but it is still nothing when compared to most turbo trainers.

Overall the Kreitler Challenger 3.0 Rollers are good quality mid-range bicycle rollers which offer a great balance of portability, resistance and value for money.
